Duty - things to know

Why deferment accounts are sensible

If you pay duty on multiple shipments per month, this is often associated with higher accounting costs for you, as the individual tax bills must be paid separately, often with short payment deadlines. However, if you have your own deferment accounts, the central customs office will collect the duty by direct debit on the 16th of the following month. This means you will have a fixed payment date.

Do you still have no deferment accounts of your own? You will find information about applying here.

Necessity of an EORI number

If you are involved in customs clearance of any type, you require an EORI number. If your company still has no EORI number, you can apply for one very easily using the following form.
